Nestled in the wonderful Gaslight District of Clifton, Tinks Cafe might be dismissed by harried shoppers as just another bistro. But thousands of people who have pressed down the brass door latch and entered the restaurant named after a former owner’s pet leave with a different impression. Tinks is a simply but sophistically decorated restaurant that features an intimate and casual atmosphere with an eclectic menu. Chef Jim Wilhelm is known for his innovative American menu and his passion for crafting dishes that satisfy the taste buds of discriminating diners. He also varies the menu depending on the season - be sure to see the recent changes he has made. Of course, the House Specialties such as Shrimp Grits, Diver Scallops, Roasted Grouper and Crab Cakes are always available. The menu includes vegetarian dishes including Tofu (both an entree and a sandwich). If soup is your pleasure, the House Favorites are Southwestern Black Bean, Cream of Potato and Sweet Potato. You can order it by the cup or bowl.
Businesses and organizations have found Tinks an ideal place to hold a meeting or business luncheon as well as a place employees can be feted for their outstanding achievements. The bar, which is open the same hours as the restaurant, is excellently suited to entertain a date and for several regulars, a stop for a drink with friends on their way home after work. You won’t find loud TV sets, but Tinks does serve a nice variety of bottled beers, wines and mixed drinks.
